Populated Rainfed Cropland

Populated Rainfed Cropland is dominated by big agriculture and charictarized by a small human population which is very similar to that of populated irrigated cropland anthromes though with far less irrigated land.  However this is the first anthrome in which we find no urban land area and thus non-urban population density is the total population density, which of course is very sparse.

Though within the top five constituent ecoregions there is no dominance of any one region, we do find a marked change from forested ecoregions to those dominated by grasses and shrubs which lend themselves to easy conversion to agriculture especially where irrigation is limited or unnecessary.  Much of this anthrome is large scale agriculture and agribusiness.
