Anthropogenic Biomes of the World
Residential Rainfed Mosaic Cropland

A mixture of cropland, forest, human settlements,
pasture, and limited urban area, Residential Rainfed
Mosaic Croplands is the most extensive of the more densely populated anthromes
(population
density >10 persons per km2). With a median
annual precipitation near 1000mm there is sufficient water to
support all aspects of life without hardly any irrigation.
The composition of the constituent ecoregions is as heterogeneous as
the anthrome is itself. The top ecoregion only represents 4%
of the total which tells us that residential rainfed mosaic
croplands are found in small patches throughout the world.
There is no region of the world that is predominant in this
anthrome. |
