GROUP: infill and dumping (in)
DEFINITION:
infill & dumping areas
in use or <40% annual vegetation cover. USE = Mine & Fill.
If covered with rock, debris, or minerals to create a sealed surface, use
COVER = S, otherwise use COVER = E. Does not include
constructed surfaces sealed by concrete, asphalt or other paving. Use of
feature must be dumping or filling at the time of mapping: does not include
temporary storage areas where materials reside for < 2 years.

- surface dumping area = active, generic, surface dumping area without an anthropogenic pit (not FORM = EX or AN). Includes surfaces that are not flat, such as river edges.
- open pit dump = active, generic, pit-filling dumping area, where the pit is anthropogenic (FORM = EX, or AN, if <30 m).
- sanitary landfill = active, multi-layered landfill operated by professional waste managers. Includes all areas of dump with <40% annual vegetation growth (FORM = EX, MO, or AN).
