GROUP: disturbed & debris (db)
DEFINITION: disturbed areas near structures or >10% cover of anthropogenic
debris, abandoned or small (<5m/unmapped) earth or sealed structures or pits,
mixed small USE patches, usually <30m in size. Disturbance may include
livestock grazing if grazing is>25% of year AND is not managed using fencing
or formal agreements or management plan by the landowner (land managed as a “commons”).
USE = Disturbed. COVER varies, may be Sealed for some construction
site and abandoned solid structures with <50% of roof or sealed surface remaining
features.

Classification
|
Return
|
- Object
- bare earth area
- regrowth area
- grave regrowth vegetation
= >10% cover of vegetation growing within feature.
- construction site = area currently
disturbed by ongoing construction activities such that final feature boundary
and use cannot be precisely determined.
- abandoned earth/plastic horticulture
structures with <50% of original roof remaining.
- abandoned solid structures
with <50% of roof or sealed surface remaining = mostly abandoned buildings
with so little roof or structure remaining (<50%) that it is nearly impossible
to use the building again, and vegetation will eventually start growing in it.
May include other abandoned structures in similar condition, including abandoned
sealed drying areas.
- Modifier 1 (degree of disturbance: only bare earth + regrowth area)
- no structures or
debris = opposite
of with structures or debris.
- with structures
or debris =
includes small buildings, small pits and mounds, heavily compacted areas,
trash, building debris, or abandoned agricultural land with field borders,
leveling and other anthropogenic earthen structures visible.
- Vegetation (of building footprint)
- regrowth area + abandoned solid
structures
- non-woody
- woody/some trees
- tree covered (>60%) = may be primarily >3m tall bamboo cover, planted or regrowth.
- abandoned solid structures
- 40% vegetation cover all year.

Dominance Rules
|
Return
|
- IF TYPE with greater area is very similar or otherwise unclear:
- Choose bare earth area over regrowth area.
- Choose with structures or debris
over no structures or debris.
- IF unclear whether a field border or other anthropogenic boundary or earthwork is
used as a path (tr01) or is just a disturbed feature (significant vegetation growth,
etc.):
- Choose disturbed & debris over transportation.
